Wayne Rooney is urging Ross Barkley to pen a new deal with Everton following fresh reports Tottenham are keen to swoop.
Barkley has just 12 months remaining on his current deal and boss Ronald Koeman has suggested the midfielder will be sold unless he pens a new one as they do not want to lose him for nothing this time next year.
Spurs have been heavily linked, and although some reports claimed their interest had cooled, it would appear that boss Mauricio Pochettino is still keen to get him on board before the season starts. In fact they want him on board before they jet-off on their pre-season tour of the US this week, but are not willing to match Evertons valuation, meaning it is likely to drag on.
But as far as Rooney is concerned, he hopes the 23-year-old will decide his future lies with the Toffees. With the ability that Ross has got, of course we all want him to be a part of what we are trying to achieve at Everton," Rooney revealed. He can help us get better. But the decision about his future is down to him. Im sure hell speak to the manager and do whats right for him.
