Barcelona were still waiting to hear from Deulofeu. The 23 year old doesn’t want to return to Barcelona and be glued to the bench, so there’s some worry he’ll say no.
Barcelona’s deadline to use the buyback clause is June 30th, so time is beginning to become pressured.
Interestingly, there’s no longer repeat claims in the Catalan media that Barcalona could use their €12m clause with Everton and then sell Deulofeu on for an immediate profit. As we explained in March, Roberto Martinez dismissed that possibility when he was Everton manager.
If the Spanish international, who spent the second half of the season on loan at AC Milan, rejects Barcelona then the club can’t use their €12m clause with Everton.
That would leave the Goodison Park club able to sell Deulofeu on the open market, with Sport believing Everton could triple the €6m they paid for the player.
