Matthew Pennington, who played in right back against Barnsley in the Capital One Cup, is on loan at Walsall and so Martinez is ready to give Hibbert the chance to prove his fitness.
The 35-year-old has endured seasons of injury hell and has not played for Everton since December 6, 2014, when the Blues lost 1-0 to Man City.
But Hibbert could be in line for a shock return to the side this week.
