Plans for a new stadium for Everton FC – plus a major housing and retail development – on Walton Hall Park have been abandoned.

The club and Liverpool council have confirmed they will now be looking elsewhere for new home for the Blues.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has also pledged Walton Hall Park will “remain a park and will be designated as such” – ruling out future development there.

The council and club now say they are looking at two other unnamed sites in the city for a new stadium for Everton FC after admitting the proposal for Walton Hall Park “was always ambitious”.

A joint statement from the council and Everton FC said: “Liverpool City Council and Everton Football Club can confirm they have been working together over recent months to investigate alternative plans for a new stadium for Everton Football Club.

“These new plans no longer focus on Walton Hall Park but on two other potential sites brownfield sites within the city boundary.

Last year Liverpool’s Mayor Joe Anderson said Everton had not shown it could afford the plan for a stadium and development of Walton Hall Park estimated to cost £300m.

Robert Elstone, chief executive of Everton Football Club said: “Our work with the council, particularly over the last few months, has been positive and progressive and whilst our work evaluating the alternatives is at an early stage, we are hopeful that the new sites provide us with a much more straightforward, deliverable opportunity to build a new stadium.”

新球場又觸礁，已經是第二個選址(Kirkby and Walton hall park) 被 ban，現時公告話另外有2個地點正在考慮，而選址應該在城市邊緣而並非市中心，原先計劃要3憶鎊，愛華頓亦沒有足夠發展資金，如果是在市郊地點，相信地價之類較平，當賣掉goodison 球場，再賣埋冠名權後應該可以借少些資金，對球會財政較健康。

但長遠發展我覺得新球場係必需的，其實開始時選係市中心我都覺得無必要，費用太高，利物浦市有完善火車和地鐵系統，只要有交通配套，球場建在市郊，並在附近興建小區賣樓賺返少少錢幫補一下球場，過多10年可能由城市邊緣位置變成另一個市中心呢， 其實我睇google map，現時goodison park 離最近地鐵站好像都接近20分鐘步程。

擴建能夠慳多些錢，有得選擇當然擴建好，但可惜 goodison park 已經無地方擴建或改建啦，更何況當年設計，不少座位是被遮擋到部份視野，配套設施也差，還是重建一個較大和配套更多的球場一勞永逸。

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson says Everton could be playing in a new stadium within three years.

Anderson was speaking after it was confirmed the club will not now be pushing ahead with a project to build a new stadium on Walton Hall Park.

It is the third time Everton have seen plans for a new stadium collapse after failed attempts to relocate to Kings Dock in 2003 and Kirkby in 2009.

The club have confirmed that they have already identified two brownfield sites within the city boundary and are working with the local council.

Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside, Anderson said:

    "I’m confident the new stadium will be up and running in three years time.

    "I think there is a real acceptance by them and I’m pretty confident that within three years there will be a new stadium for Everton football club in Liverpool."

Given Everton have now failed to move three times in 13 years it seems ambitious to suggest they will be in a new ground within three, especially as they haven't finalised a site yet.

真係咁有信心，3年有新球場？除非今年之內選址會定下來，下年中就可以開工，否則2019年點起好新球場呢

After abandoning plans to build on Walton Hall Park, this week, the club is now looking at the council-owned Stonebridge Cross in off the East Lancs Road and in north Liverpool dockland – reviving fond hopes of a stadium on the banks for the Mersey.

兩個新球場地點出場~


He said this was a key difference between the proposal now under consideration and previous schemes such as Walton Hall Park and before that in Kirkby, which had been based on wider regeneration projects partly funded through major retail and housing schemes.

Mayor Anderson said: “The difference is that the club don’t need subsidy in that way to help them.”

“We can’t do retail because that would be competition with other parts of the city region, but we could certainly do leisure and things that support the stadium, restaurants and different things.”

最大唔同係以前需要做埋零售和房屋去補貼起球場的資金，既得利益的人會反對，現時球會有新資金進來，唔需要做呢2樣野去補貼球場，也放棄用綠化地興建球場，居民反對也少，當然球會也會係球場附近做飲食和娛樂方面的生意。


第一個地點：Stonebridge Cross (大約位置在離 goodison park 10分鐘車程)，並不近地鐵站。


第二個地點：North Docks area (大約位置在離 goodison park 25分鐘車程)


好處係5分鐘車程外有地鐵站，10數分鐘車程就係機場。


但其實2個地點附近都比較偏僻，相信阻力不大，而且地價成本也低，但交通配套就麻煩多了。

The FA had already given them the opportunity to hire the national stadium for the 2017-18 season.

And chairman Daniel Levy indicated Tottenham would take up an extra season-long option, with their new 61,000-capacity stadium scheduled to be ready for the start of the 2018-19 season.

熱刺2年後都有一個4億鎊，6萬人的新球場，希望我地都能夠儘快有新球場，我們球場規模較細，3億鎊都走唔甩，之後我覺得轉會預算都會緊張
